CARAMEL CREAM SANDWICH COOKIES 
1 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 unbeaten egg yolk
2 1/4 c. flour

Cream butter and sugar. Blend in egg yolk. Add flour, chill if necessary. Shape into balls the size of marbles. Flatten with fork to about 1/8 inch thick. Bake at 325 degrees.

BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING:

2 tbsp. butter
1 1/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Cream, half and half, or milk

Brown butter in saucepan. Remove from heat and blend in powdered sugar, vanilla and enough cream until you have spreading consistency. At Christmas time, add red or green food coloring to the frosting.
