MEAT LOAF 
1 lb. ground steak
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 med. onion, chopped fine
1 sm. can tomato sauce
4 tbsp. apple sauce
1 c. cracker crumbs
1 egg
Salt and pepper to taste

Have meat ground together with a little fat added. Put meat in mixing bowl, add onion and egg and mix. Add 4 tablespoons applesauce, salt, pepper and 1/2 can tomato sauce, mix well, then at last add cracker crumbs. If mixture seems too dry use less cracker crumbs.

Shape into 2 loaves. Spread flour on waxed paper and roll loaves in flour. Put loaves in a greased pan in HOT oven for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 300 degrees. Add remainder of tomato sauce and 1 can of water, cover pan and bake 1 hour. If loaves are not as brown as you like remove cover and bake until color desired.
