OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. hot water
1 (6 oz.) pkg. real chocolate chips
2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Add hot water and vanilla and mix well. Stir in dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips and oatmeal, and mix thoroughly. Drop by teaspoons onto teflon or greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees.
