OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
2 c. rolled oats
1 tsp. hot water
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts (opt.)
1 c. raisins (opt.)

Cream sugar and shortening well. Add eggs and beat well. Add rolled oats, water and vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt and mix well. Mix in nuts, raisins and chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
