BROWN SUGAR ALMOND BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 c. all-purpose flour
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. sliced almonds
3/4 tsp. vanilla

Cream together the 1/2 cup butter and powered sugar. Add flour; mix well. Pat into ungreased 9x9x2 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

Melt remaining butter. Add brown sugar, lemon juice and 1 tbsp. water; bring to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in almonds and vanilla. Spread over crust. Bake 15 to 20 minutes more. Cool slightly. Cut in bars while warm. Makes 2 dozen.
