BROWN SUGAR ALMOND BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 c. flour
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. sliced almonds
3/4 tsp. vanilla

Cream together 1/2 cup butter, sugar with mixer. Add flour; mix well. Pat into an ungreased 9"x12" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

Melt remaining butter. Add brown sugar, 1 tablespoon water and lemon juice; bring to boil, stirring constantly. Remove and stir in almonds and vanilla. Spread over crust. Bake 15 to 20 minutes more, cool. Cut while warm. Makes 2 dozen.
