HOMINGHARK (DUTCH HONEY BREAD) 
1 3/4 c. honey
7/8 lb. dark brown sugar
1 1/2 c. milk

4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger

Mix the first 3 ingredients, then sift the dry ingredients well and fold in. Last, mix in the soda and spices. Beat well and bake at 325 degrees in greased loaf pans for approximately 1 hour. (Do a toothpick test.)

My mom, Isabel, always baked this for the holidays when I was little. It is wonderfully moist, with a sort of spongy texture and it stores really well when wrapped in foil. The recipe is supposed to come from Holland.
