DUTCH SPICE BREAD | |
2 eggs 2 c. white sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. oil 2 c. sour milk or buttermilk 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. lemon flavoring 4 c. flour 1 tsp. nutmeg 3 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves Nuts (optional) Raisins (optional) Beat eggs. Add sugar and oil. Stir sour milk, baking soda and flavoring together and add to first mixture. Sift flour, spices, salt and add to first mixture. Add nuts and raisins if desired. Bake 1 hour. First 10 minutes at 400 degrees, then turn down to 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Makes 2 large loaves. |
