3/4 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
2 rounded tbsp. cornstarch
1 egg, well beaten
2 c. milk

Mix together in double boiler. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Set aside and add 1 tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Delicious served warm or cold over strawberry shortcake or apple dumplings.
