BAKED BEANS 
1 lb. dried beans
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
Dash of pepper
1/4 c. butter
1/4 tsp. parsley flakes
1/4 tsp. thyme
2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. molasses
1 tbsp. maple syrup

Cover beans in a 6 quart kettle. Bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes, remove from heat and let stand 30 minutes. Bring to a boil again. Add soda and boil for 1 hour. You may have to add more water. Drain beans and place in a large casserole. Combine remaining ingredients. Pour 1 quart boiling water over mixture. Stir until batter melts. Pour mixture over beans and store. Bake covered at 275 degrees for 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Serves 6 to 8.
