BANANA NUT CAKE | |
1/2 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 c. sifted flour Dash of salt 2 tsp. baking soda 6 tbsp. buttermilk 3 ripe bananas, mashed 1 tsp. vanilla Chopped nuts (optional) Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift flour, salt and soda three times, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and bananas. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into 3 (9") pans. Bake at 325 degrees until cake tests done, about 25 minutes. BANANA NUT CAKE FROSTING: 1 box powdered sugar 1/4 lb. butter, melted 1 ripe banana, mashed 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped nuts Dash of salt Combine all ingredients, spread between layers and on top and side of cake. |
