BAKED WINTER SQUASH 
2 acorn or butternut squash
Water
Salt & pepper
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. maple syrup

Halve squash lengthwise. Scrape out seeds and fibers. Place squash halves cut side down on baking dish. Add water just to cover bottom of dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until squash can just be pierced with fork. Turn squash over, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place 1 teaspoon butter and 1 teaspoon maple syrup in each cavity. Return to oven and bake 15 minutes more or until done.
