BACON BRITTLE | |
For all the bacon lovers out there! 1 lb. granulated sugar 8 oz. light corn syrup (Karo) 1 cup water 2 tbsp. butter 6 oz. cooked and crumbled bacon (about 5-6 slices) 1 tsp. baking soda Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in a heavy saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Continue to cook unstirred until the temperature reaches 300°F on a candy thermometer. Note: It will be ready when it turns a deep amber color. Add butter, bacon and baking soda. Stir to incorporate. Pour onto a greased baking sheet and spread evenly with a greased spatula. Allow to set for at least 1 hour and break into pieces. Cooks Note: Use of a candy thermometer is recommended.
