2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. finely chopped nuts
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder

Mix as usual for any cookies and place in ice box for about 3 hours, wrapped in wax paper after shaping round or square. Bake in about a 400 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Slice abut 1/2" or 1" thick.
