ITALIAN EASTER BREAD | |
6 1/2 c. flour 6 eggs, well beaten 1 cake yeast 1/4 tsp. salt 12 tbsp. sugar 12 tbsp. oil 1 1/2 oz. anise seed 3 tbsp. sour cream Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water. Put flour on work board, make a well in the center. Add all ingredients in well and gradually blend in flour. Knead until smooth. Put dough in large oiled pot until doubled. Divide dough into 3 equal parts in the shape of a ball. Place on cookie sheet and cook at 325 degrees for 1 hour. While bread is still hot rub with 1 beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with mixed colored jimmies. |
