PRUNE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 c. self-rising flour (sift before measuring)
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 eggs
1 c. Wesson oil
1 (8 oz.) jar Gerber's jr. strained prunes with tapioca
1/2-1 c. nuts, optional

Mix sugar and Wesson oil; add eggs and dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Add prunes and nuts. Mix well. Pour into tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

CARAMEL FROSTING FOR PRUNE CAKE:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. light cream or milk (not skim)
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook sugar, cream and butter until a little dropped into cold water forms a very soft ball. Cool; add vanilla and beat until spreading consistency. (Do not overcook.)
