NORWEGIAN SLAW 
3 heads (about 6 lbs.) green cabbage, shredded
1 tbsp. salt
1 bunch celery, chopped
2 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. celery seed
1 green pepper, chopped
4 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 tbsp. mustard seed

Put salt on cabbage. Let stand for 3 hours, then squeeze out excess water. Add green pepper and celery.

Boil sugar, vinegar, water, celery seed and mustard seeds together for 5 minutes. Let cool, then pour over cabbage mixture. Let stand 24 hours. Will keep several days in the refrigerator.
