1 c. soft butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

COATING MIX:

2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cinnamon
Red sugar crystals

Mix together butter, sugar, and eggs. Sift in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Chill dough for 1 hour. Roll dough into walnut-size balls. Place balls on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cookies will puff up at first. Then flatten out. Sprinkle coating mix as soon as they come out of oven.
