CHOCOLATE MINT SQUARES 
CAKE LAYER:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (16 oz.) can chocolate syrup
4 eggs
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter with the sugar. Add 1 egg at a time. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour onto greased and floured 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes; cool well.

MINT LAYER:

2 c. confectioners sugar
1/2 c. butter
2-4 tbsp. creme de menthe or 1 tsp. peppermint extract

Cream butter and sugar, then add creme de menthe or mint flavoring; mix well. Spread over cooled cake. Refrigerate while making glaze.

GLAZE:

6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate bits
6 tbsp. butter

Melt chocolate bits and butter on stove or in microwave. Mix well. Spread over mint layer. Chill. Cut into squares.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
