CHOCOLATE MERINGUE PIE 
FILLING:

1 1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. sugar
4 egg yolks, well beaten
1/4 c. shortening
2 squares chocolate, melted (substitute for chocolate squares, 6 tbsp. cocoa plus 2 tbsp. shortening)

Make a custard of the milk, sugar and egg yolks; beat well. Add in shortening and the chocolate. Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 degrees until the filling is firm.

MERINGUE:

4 egg whites
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites until stiff and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Cover cooled pie and brown in the oven.
