PEACH NUT SQUARES 
1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter, softened
1 c. chopped walnuts
3 1/2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1 (13 oz.) can sliced cling peaches, drained

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and flour 9x13x2 inch pan. Combine brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and butter. Blend well. Stir in nuts. Set aside. Sift 3 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt onto wax paper.

Beat shortening, sugar, and eggs in large bowl about 3 minutes. Beat in milk. Add flour mixture, beat until smooth and thick. Pour batter in pan, spread evenly. Arrange peach slices in rows. Sprinkle brown sugar topping over peaches. Bake 1 hour. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into 16 pieces.
