HOT ROLLS 
6 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 pkgs. yeast (or equivalent)
2 cups warm water
6 tbsp. melted shortening (Crisco)
1 egg, beaten

Sift together 3 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast. To this, add 2 cups warm water. Mix well. Add melted shortening; mix, then add the egg and beat. Then add the remaining cups 3 of flour; mix well.

Let dough rise until double in bulk. Punch down and let rise again. Shape into rolls. Let rise until double in size. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
