1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs; mix well. Add baking soda to sour cream; add to egg mixture. Sift flour with baking powder and salt; add to egg mixture gradually. Add vanilla. Drop from a teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375°F for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
