EASY AND GOOD COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening or 3/4 c. lard
1 egg
4 tbsp. molasses
3/4 tsp. cinnamon & ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda (level)
Dash of salt

Roll in balls the size of a walnut and then in sugar. Do not flatten. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
