APPLE TEA RING
3 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. scalded milk
1 pkg. yeast
2 3/4 c. flour
3 tbsp. melted butter
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 tbsp. chopped nuts
1 c. diced apples

Combine sugar, salt, and shortening with milk; cool until lukewarm. Add yeast in small amounts to mixture; add well beaten egg. Add flour to yeast mixture in two parts; mix well to make soft dough. Knead or beat in bowl about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise in warm place until double (about 2 hours). Roll out in 12 x 10 inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Combine the last four ingredients; spread over dough. Roll up (as for jelly roll) the long way. Place in greased baking sheet forming a ring. Seal ends. Make slits in ring with knife 1 inch apart; cut 3/4 way to center of ring. Turn each piece on side. Cover; let rise until double. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
