HAMBURGER CHOP SUEY OR CHOW MEIN 
1 1/4 lbs. ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. diced celery
1 can (1 lb. 28 oz.) bean sprouts, drained
1/2 c. sliced water chestnuts
1 jar (4 1/2 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
2 tsp. chopped pimento
1 1/2 c. water

THICKENING:

3 tsp. cold water
3 tsp. cornstarch
1 1/2 tsp. soy sauce
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. brown gravy sauce

Cook beef and onions in butter until lightly browned. Add salt, pepper, celery and water. Bring to a boil. Cover, simmer 15 minutes. Add remaining vegetables, heat until hot. Combine thickening ingredients. Add to meat mixture; cook until slightly thickened, stirring constantly.
