ALMOND-DATE BARS 
1 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 c. finely chopped dates
1/2 c. finely chopped almonds
1 c. skim milk
3 lg. egg whites
2 tbsp. brown sugar substitute
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pam-spray 9x9x2 inch baking pan. In large bowl, combine oats, flours, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in dates, almonds, and milk.

In perfectly clean large bowl, beat egg white until form soft peaks. Beat in brown sugar substitute, then vanilla. Fold egg mixture into oat mixture. Spread into pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to wire rack and cool completely. Makes 12 bars.
