1 1/2 cups sugar
4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 rounded tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup shortening (Crisco)
2 eggs
buttermilk (enough for 1 cup)

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Mix first five ingredients with 1 cup of shortening. Add 2 eggs in a cup, fill with buttermilk to 1 cup mark.

Roll out. Sprinkle with sugar before baking. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes.
