COCONUT CHEWS 
3/4 c. powdered sugar
3/4 c. shortening (half butter or softened butter)
1 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. flaked coconut

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix powdered sugar and shortening. Stir in 1 1/2 cups flour. Press in ungreased 13x9 cake pan. Bake until golden brown, 12-15 minutes.

Mix remaining ingredients. Spread over baked layer. Bake 20 minutes. Cool. Makes 32 bars (3x1). Delicious! This is a fast and easy recipe. Hand mixing is quicker and easy clean up!
