SOUTHERN STYLE CORN BREAD 
2 c. self-rising corn meal
3/4 c. to 1 c. self-rising flour
1 egg
1/2 c. oil or bacon drippings
2 c. buttermilk
Water

Put oil or bacon drippings in an iron skillet in a preheated oven of 475 degrees. While your oil is heating, mix meal, flour, egg and buttermilk. When oil is hot, pour excess into cornmeal mixture and mix well. If mixture is still thick, add water until mixture is relatively thin. Pour into the hot oiled skillet and return to oven and bake until brown or approximately 20 minutes.
