1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 tbsp. milk
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Pinch of salt

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla together. Beat egg and milk together and add. Mix together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Stir into creamed mixture.

Roll into 1 inch balls and dip in sugar. Put on cookie sheet. Flatten with a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 degrees 8 minutes on greased cookie sheet.

You may also dip them in colored sugar and press with glass dipped in colored sugar.
