TOP OF THE STOVE STUFFED PEPPERS 
1 lg. can tomato sauce
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. basil leaves
3 lg. bell pepper
3/4 to 1 lb. ground beef OR 1 can "vegeburger"
1 med. onion
1/2 c. Minute Rice
1 c. grated cheese

Combine tomato sauce, sugar and basil. Split 3 large bell peppers lengthwise. Cook in salted water until tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Brown meat and onion together. Add 1/2 cup sauce mixture, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup rice and 1/2 cup grated cheese. Mix together well; let simmer 10 to 15 minutes. Stuff peppers and pour remainder of sauce over peppers. Spread 1/2 cup grated cheese over all and simmer for 15 minutes. This freezes well.
