SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS | |
MEATBALLS: 1 lb. hamburger 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs 1/2 c. milk 2 tbsp. chopped onion 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 egg SAUCE: 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1 tbsp. cornstarch 1 (13 1/4 oz.) can pineapple chunks 1/3 c. vinegar 1 tbsp. soy sauce 1 sm. green pepper, cut into chunks MEATBALLS: Mix ingredients and shape into 1 1/2" balls. Cook over medium heat, turning occasionally until brown, 20 minutes. Drain on paper towels or set aside. SAUCE: Mix brown sugar and cornstarch in skillet. Stir in pineapple (with juice), vinegar and soy sauce. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly, cover, reduce heat. Add meatballs, cover and simmer 10 minutes. Add green pepper, cover and simmer 5 minutes. Serve over rice. |
