OLD FASHION BUTTER ROLL
1 1/2 c. real butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. milk
2 c. self-rising flour
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour

Mix shortening, milk and self-rising flour. Turn out on floured board and divide into 6 rolls. Roll each ball to 6 inch circle. In bowl mix 1/2 cup butter, sugar and cinnamon. Dip about 2 tablespoons on each circle and fold over making a half circle. Seal edges by pressing with fork. Bake at 400 degrees until browned.

Take rest of butter, 1 cup; add vanilla, 1 cup milk and 1 tablespoon flour and heat until butter melts and pour over baked rolls in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake or it will be too dry. The rolls are supposed to be juicy. This is the kind our grannys use to make.
