2 cucumbers or head of lettuce
1/2 c. vinegar
Fresh ground pepper to taste
1/2 pt. heavy cream (half & half is o.k.)

Peel and slice cucumbers (or shred lettuce coarsely by hand). Put into a bowl, add vinegar and pepper to taste. Toss lightly and refrigerate until ready to serve. Toss periodically to keep coating cucumbers or lettuce. Prior to serving, drain the vinegar leaving a small coating behind. Add cream and toss again. Let sit while serving main course and toss once more before serving.
