SANDWICH CASSEROLE 
12 slices sandwich bread
1 c. grated med. sharp Cheddar cheese
1 tbsp. minced onion
1/2 c. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. soft butter
5 slightly beaten eggs
3 1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. finely diced chicken or ham

Make a filling of the chicken, onion, mayonnaise, and half the cheese. Make 6 sandwiches by spreading one side of bread with butter and then the filling. Place sandwiches in a greased baking dish. Combine eggs, milk, and salt; pour over the sandwiches. Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Sprinkle remaining cheese 10 minutes before end of baking time.
