FRENCH FRIED ONION RINGS 
3 lg. onions
Vegetable oil
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Prepare onions as directed. Cut into 1/4-inch slices and separate into rings. Heat oil in 3-quart saucepan to 375 degrees. Beat remaining ingredients with hand beater until smooth. Dip each ring into batter letting excess drip into bowl. Fry a few onion rings at a time in hot oil, turning once until golden brown, approximately 2 minutes. Makes 4 servings.

To keep onion rings warm, place in oven at 300 degrees until ready to serve. IF using self-rising flour, omit salt.
