FAMILY FAVORITE OATMEAL COOKIES | |
2 c. shortening 2 c. sugar 2 c. brown sugar 4 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 3 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 6 c. oats 2 c. chopped walnuts (optional) Cream shortening and sugars. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, salt, and soda. Fold into creamed mixture along with the oats and nuts. Roll into small balls and place on greased cookie sheet. flatten with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Yield: Approximately 10 dozen. Make refrigerator cookies by forming dough into rolls 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Chill thoroughly. Just before baking, slice cookies 1/4 inch thick; place on baking sheet and bake as above. |
