“OLD-FASHIONED QUAKER OATS FAMOUS OATMEAL COOKIES” IS IN:

OLD-FASHIONED QUAKER OATS FAMOUS
OATMEAL COOKIES
 
3/4 cup shortening, soft
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 cups oats, uncooked

Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla together until creamy. Stir together flour, salt and baking soda; add to creamed mixture, blend well. Stir in oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

Bake in preheated moderate (350°F) oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

Variation: add chopped nutmeats, raisins, chocolate chips or coconut.

Makes 5 dozen.

Very good! We split the batter into 3 different bowls so we could use 3 different mix-ins. We used cranberries in one, rasins in one, and both plus pecans. We also added a dash of cocoa powder to the rasin batch. Great for breakfast! Love the recipe!

Loved em! A new one for my favorites collection.. Thanks to whoever submitted this recipe. I think I will submit a few of my own to share. I have a few great old cookie recipes that were my mom's. No sense in them just sitting in the recipe box! I love this site!
