APRICOT - NUT BREAD 
1 c. dried apricot halves
1 c. orange juice
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
1 lg. egg
1/2 c. milk
1 c. wheat bran cereal
2 tsp. finely grated orange peel
1/2 c. slivered blanched almonds

Cut apricots into 1/4 inch pieces and put in a small saucepan with the orange juice. Bring to boil over moderately low heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from Heat and cool. heat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Sift dry ingredients together.

Beat butter and sugar in large bowl. Mix well and add egg then milk. Stir in bran, orange peel, apricot mixture and almonds. Add dry ingredients and stir until moistened. Pour batter in pan. Bake 55-60 minutes or until done. Place on wire rack and cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Wrap bread tightly in plastic or foil and store overnight before slicing. Makes 1 loaf.
