BEER AND POPPY SEED SOUP 
1 qt. beer
2 tbsp. honey
1/2 c. poppy seeds
2 c. boiling water

Pour boiling water on poppy seeds, let stand about 15 minutes. Pour off water. Pulverize seeds in mortar or bowl. Add about 1 cup of cold water, gradually. Pour into beer which has been heated (not boiled) with honey. Garnish with lemon slices and croutons of rye bread lightly sprinkled with salt and caraway seeds.
