DAISY'S JUNK BARS | |
I have been making this recipe for years and they are always a hit. I have used name brand items and store brand. I have never seen much of a difference. I always get requests to bring these to parties, etc. 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 1 1/2 cups graham crackers crumbs 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup butterscotch or peanut butter chips 1 cup coconut 1 cup pecans or walnuts (I prefer pecans) 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand works best, but store brands are good, too) Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Place butter in 13x9-inch pan and melt in oven. Approximately 5 minutes. Remove pan from oven and pour graham cracker crumbs into pan mixing it with the butter. Layer chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, pecans in that order. Pour condensed milk over everything, trying not to miss a spot. I usually do a zig-zag motion one way, turn the pan, and then do it in the other direction. Works every time. Bake at 350°F until edges are golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes, depending on your oven. I usually do about 20, check on them, and bake longer if need be. Note: Do not over bake, or your bars will be too hard to cut. Enjoy!! Submitted by: Daisy Moore Pfaff |
