HI-LO CAKE 
PART 1:
1 stick butter
1 c. water
1 c. flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

PART 2:
1 stick butter
1 c. flour
3 tbsp. water

PART 1: Boil butter and water. Add flour. Stir until smooth. Set aside to cool. When cool, add the eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.

PART 2: (Can be done while part one is cooling.) Mix butter, flour and water as for pie crust. Pat into bottom of 9"x13" pan. Spread first mixture over second. Bake 35 minutes in 375 degree oven. When still warm, cover with favorite jam, then this powdered sugar icing over top.
