FIG COOKIES 
6 c. chopped figs
6 c. boiling water
3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. lemon juice
3 c. sugar

Cook 5 minutes.

COOKIE:

4 c. shortening
6 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. salt
4 1/2 c. sugar
12 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk

Roll 1/8 inch thick. Spread filling, add top of mix. Bake at 350 degrees.
