PEANUT BUTTER - OATMEAL BARS 
2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. peanut butter
3 tbsp. shortening (Crisco)
Pinch of salt
1 beaten egg
1 tbsp. 1% or 2% milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. quick cooking rolled oats
Peanut Butter Frosting

Stir together flour, brown sugar, baking soda and pinch of salt. Cut in peanut butter and shortening until mixture is coarse crumbs. Mix egg, milk and vanilla; add to flour mixture with rolled oats; mix well. Spread in a lightly greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Cool; spread with peanut butter frosting. Cut into bars. Makes 2 dozen.

Peanut Butter Frosting: Combine 3/4 cup powdered (confectioners') sugar, 1 tablespoon softened butter and 1 tablespoon peanut butter. Blend in enough milk (2 or 3 teaspoons) until frosting is of spreading consistency.
