1 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter and powdered sugar, add egg and vanilla and flavoring. Add cream of tartar and soda and flour. Chill dough. roll out small portions of dough for cut out cookies. Bake at 375 degrees about 8 minutes or until lightly browned on edges. Frost with powdered sugar frosting and decorate.
