MILE HIGH STRAWBERRY TORTE 
BOTTOM LAYER:

1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

TOP LAYER:

2 egg whites
3/4 c. sugar
1 pt. or 10 oz. frozen strawberries
1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 pt. whipping cream or 9 oz. Cool Whip

Mix together ingredients for bottom layer. Pat in a 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes; cool. Whip egg whites until frothy. Add sugar. Gradually add fresh or frozen strawberries and lemon juice. Beat 10 minutes until very thick. Fold in whipped cream or Cool Whip. Spread over cooled crust. Freeze until ready to serve. May be served slightly thawed also.
