FAMOUS CHICAGO COOKIES 
2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
5 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 (24 oz.) bag choc. chips
1 (8 oz.) Hershey bar, finely grated
3 c. chopped nuts, optional

Cream together in a large bowl; butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. In small bowl, mix flour and oatmeal with salt, baking soda and baking powder. Add to first mixture and mix well. Add chocolate chips, Hershey bar and nuts (if desired). Place dough, in golf ball size pieces, on a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 100 cookies. Cookie dough may be frozen.

Measure 5 cups oatmeal. Using a small amount at a time, "powderize" in a blender or food processor. Use the "powderized" oatmeal that results.
