BLONDE BROWNIES 
1 c. shortening, melted
3 c. brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 tbsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts
Chocolate chips

Beat eggs. Add sugar, shortening and vanilla. Mix well. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Add to first mixture, mix well. Add nuts. Mixture will be dry, but don't add more liquid. Spread in 10 x 14 inch baking pan (with a wet spoon). Sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Bake in moderate oven 20 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Makes 24 brownies.
