BISCUITS OR DUMPLINGS 
1/8 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk

Mix together in a cup until foamy, these ingredients: sugar, yeast and water; set aside. Mix dry ingredients with sugar that's left in bowl, cut in shortening. Mix warm buttermilk with yeast mixture and add to dry ingredients. Mix well, turn onto floured board, knead lightly, roll out, cut and bake or follow your usual procedure for making the dumpling. Bake at 400 degrees until lightly brown.
